Yelp App

Yelp Mobile App

Yelp AR Augmented Reality App

Type: Business Reviews / Business Ratings / Business Locator

Name: Yelp Mobile App

What does it do?
It is basically a Business Locator that uses a feature that Google already uses. The ground view of the business. Steets, building, avenues etc. This view displays markers for restaurants, bars and other nearby businesses.

Pro’s:
Great app that allows you to see the business and its location. Cross streets and other surrounding landmarks. Shake your phones three times and it turns on a view called “the Monocle.” This view uses the phone’s GPS and compass to display markers for restaurants, bars and other nearby businesses on top of the camera’s view.

Con’s: I was not able to get it to kick and work in certain places in the city. Manhattan has tall building and I am guessing that interfered somewhat. It seems to miss quite a bit of stuff, don’t know how accurate or reliable it may be.

More Details: Need some Yelp when you’re on the go? This app is all you need.
First, download the Yelp Augmented Reality app, then shake your iPhone 3 times. That activates a feature called Monocle and you should see a message that confirms you have activated it. A blue box will display stating that “the Monocle has been activated.” It will create a button in the top right corner. Now you should be able to look at the bars, restaurants, etc. Unfortunately, as of this review it only works on iPhone 3GS
